Relationship Issues
Little is more important to us than our primary relationships. When these “lifelines to others” are challenged by conflict, distance, dissatisfaction, or external stressors, it can take a huge toll on our mental health and well-being. BAIPS offers both couples and family counseling for those who are struggling with existing primary relationships, and individual counseling for those who have difficulty in achieving and sustaining satisfactory relationships. Working together with an experienced therapist allows for the repair of damage caused by old ways of thinking and interacting, and the development of healthier strategies for creating and maintaining deeply satisfying and fulfilling relationships with partners, family and friends.

Low Self-Esteem
Low self-esteem causes many people to be profoundly unhappy and can be a significant contributor to more serious problems, such as depression and anxiety. It’s difficult to get ahead and stay on track with what you want for your life if you are plagued by repeated thoughts such as “I’m a failure”, “People don't care about me”, “I’m unattractive”, or “I will never be good enough”. At BAIPS, we use evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy to support our clients in unlearning the negative lessons life has taught them, and confronting the negative feelings and lack of confidence that prevent them from the mental health and wellness that is foundational to achieving a satisfying life.

Life Transitions
Despite our best laid plans and intentions, life often presents us with challenges that catch us off-guard or overwhelm our usual strengths and skills in coping with the new and unknown. Whether it is the birth of a child, the “empty nest” after a child leaves for college, divorce, the loss of a loved one, or the prospect of retirement or unemployment, many of us at some point will struggle to recover our sense of self and direction in the face of major life changes. At BAIPS we work from a developmentally informed perspective that takes into account both the unique struggles each client describes, as well as the predictable challenges posed by common life transitions. Whatever transition or sudden challenge you are facing, don’t face it alone – we can help you identify obstacles and generate options, support and a renewed sense of self and hopefulness about the future. |
